AliExpress wants more from food

Lenta has launched an official store on AliExpress. The assortment available on the online platform has 1000 items and it will reach 15 thousand positions in a few months. During the pilot project, delivery will be carried out only in Moscow, and later in St. Petersburg too. It’s possible to make an order in the official Lenta store on the marketplace. Orders will be collected by the partner of the retail network - GetFaster. The delivery period is one day.

According to the press service of Lenta, the company regularly evaluates various sales channels that could be of interest to both loyal customers and those who periodically make purchases in the hypermarkets. "The AliExpress platform constantly improves the range and quality of service and increase interest in its platform. In this regard, we decided to test this channel as another way to show customers the variety of assortment, availability of prices and customer orientation of our company," – said the press service of Lenta. According to a representative of the Lenta press service, the retailer focused on delivery in Moscow, while simultaneously evaluating the site's capabilities and expanding its range. "The next step in expanding our geography is to go to St. Petersburg. The opening of sales at the Federal level will depend on the results of the pilot project and the interest of buyers," - said the press service of Lenta.

"After creating the AliExpress Russia joint venture, we set an ambitious goal - to increase the number of local sellers and expand their range on the site. We started implementing our plans at the end of last year when product sellers appeared on AliExpress. Now we are cooperating with the networks of Auchan and Harmony price. These chains present products with a long shelf life on our site - grocery, sweets, tea and coffee, as well as household goods and household chemicals," - said Sergey Grechin, commercial director of special categories, AliExpress Russia. According to him, since the beginning of the period of self-isolation, AliExpress has seen a revival in this category: sales of the product line increased by more than 150% in the end of March. "In the near future, we plan to focus on the development of this category: attract new sellers and expand the range, launch promo campaigns on the site so that buyers associate us not only with the purchase of clothing or electronics but also with food products," - said Sergey Grechin.
